Winter Essentials.

The park is fragile in winter. Here is how you can help keep it healthy for spring.

01

Stay on Marked Trails

Stick to visible paths to protect dormant vegetation and avoid disturbing wildlife habitats.

VEGETATION PROTECTION
02

Dress in Layers

Colorado weather changes quickly. Bring layers, waterproof footwear, and traction devices.

SAFETY FIRST
03

Respect Wildlife

Winter is stressful for animals. Keep dogs leashed and give wildlife extra space.

04

Pack Out Everything

Even in snow, please carry out all trash and pet waste. Frozen waste thaws in spring.

01

Plan Ahead & Prepare

A little preparation goes a long way! Check the forecast, plan your route, and review the park rules before heading out.

Principle 01
02

Travel on Durable Surfaces

Ute Valley Park trail

Stay on the trail to protect the landscape around you. Stick to marked paths and respect Natural Preservation Area closures so plants and soil can thrive.

Principle 02
03

Dispose of Waste Properly

Rubbish in the dirt

Follow a Pack-In, Pack-Out approach — carry out everything you carry in, including pet waste. This keeps Ute Valley Park looking (and smelling) bea-UTE-iful!

Principle 03
04

Leave What You Find

Flowers

Take only photos, leave only footprints! Snap all the pictures you like, but please leave rocks, plants, and other natural treasures for the next visitor to enjoy.

Principle 04
05

Respect Wildlife

Observe all wildlife from a safe distance and never feed them. Keep dogs on leash to protect wildlife habitat — learn more about our leash guidelines.

Principle 05
06

Be Considerate of Other Visitors

A friendly hello goes a long way! Yield to other trail users, keep noise levels down, and share the trail so everyone can have a great time in the park.
